Advisory Forum

The EU Days advisory group plays an advisory role in the planning of the conference, with its members contributing their ideas and perspectives.

The Advisory Forum comprises Laura Ingemarsson, Alexandra Ivanov Hökmark, and Linus Glanzelius. Meet the members and get to know them better through our short interviews.

Laura Ingemarsson

Laura Ingemarsson is a journalist and former PR consultant, currently working as a political reporter at Dagens ETC. She previously worked with EU affairs at Euronews in Brussels.

Laura joined the Advisory Forum because she loves the idea of bringing EU enthusiasts together to exchange ideas and discuss EU affairs – especially in her home city of Lund.

Her interest in the EU began during an exchange trip in upper secondary school and has grown through Erasmus exchanges, an EU traineeship and working in Brussels. Today, she gets to cover EU politics as part of her job.

Laura believes EU Days Lund is important because it makes the EU more tangible and accessible, while creating opportunities to meet people working in politics, the civil service and interest groups.

One of her most memorable EU experiences was visiting the European Parliament in Strasbourg for the first time. Despite being extremely hungover, she bought a Coca-Cola Zero and listened to a plenary debate about pork exports.

Alexandra Ivanov Hökmark

Alexandra Ivanov Hökmark is Acting Political Editor at Dagens Industri (DI).

Alexandra joined the Advisory Forum because she believes Sweden needs to make better use of its EU membership – and that requires a much better understanding of the EU. She sees EU Days Lund as one of the best initiatives for making that happen.

For Alexandra, the EU is fundamental to her prosperity, freedom and future. She believes events like EU Days Lund are particularly important because Sweden lags behind many other countries when it comes to understanding what is happening in the EU.

One of her strongest EU-related memories is a trip to Málaga last year: flying with Ryanair, travelling on EU-funded motorways, paying in euros and using her phone just as she would at home in Stockholm.

Linus Glanzelius

Linus Glanzelius is Head of Advocacy at the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO).

Linus joined the Advisory Forum because he believes the EU dimension is often underestimated in Swedish public debate. He sees a need for more spaces to discuss Europe, Sweden’s role and Swedish interests in the EU.

His relationship with the EU is “warm but clear-eyed”. He believes strongly in the idea of European cooperation and feels that, if the EU did not already exist, it would need to be invented. At the same time, he believes it must continue to evolve as the world changes.

For Linus, EU Days Lund is important because we need an ongoing discussion about what Sweden wants from the EU and what the political parties stand for. More open discussion means more people can understand what is on the agenda and take part.

One of his strongest EU memories is standing at the podium in the European Parliament for the first time in February 2024. Another was the 2016 EU leaders’ meeting in Luxembourg, when the UK voted to leave the EU – a moment when, as he recalls, the tension in the room was palpable.
