ISLK Expectations

At ISLK there are certain expectations that students, as well as teacher and guardians, need to follow.

Students are expected to:

  • follow the school rules and essential agreements.
  • support the school's vision and mission.
  • respect and take good care of the school materials and school environment, both inside and outside.
  • respect other people’s belongings and feelings.
  • contribute to a good learning and teaching environment
  • actively engage in their own learning.

Staff are expected to:

  • follow the school rules and essential agreements.
  • be good communicators who value the importance of building relationships within the school community.
  • show professionalism and be proactive.
  • demonstrate positive leadership within the school community, including both inside and outside the classroom.
  • cater for individual student needs and remember that all students are OUR students.
  • collaborate with colleagues and guardians to develop students' knowledge and social skills.
  • actively oppose discrimination and offensive treatment of all individuals at school.
  • show respect for students, guardians and colleagues in their daily work and role model the ISLK vision and mission.
  • be committed to school development with a focus on student progress and success.
  • contribute to a positive school culture and atmosphere.

Guardians are expected to:

  • support the school's vision and mission.
  • be good communicators who value the importance of building relationships within the school community.
  • support and reinforce the school rules and expectations.
  • make sure their child comes to school on time and has the right equipment.
  • pick up their child on time.
  • NOT take their child out of school during school- and term time.
  • collaborate with the school to develop the child’s knowledge and social skills.
  • contact the mentor/subject teacher/class teacher for any questions concerning teaching/assessment/activities or general class matters.
  • contact the program coordinators for questions regarding the programs.
  • follow the routines for attendance/absence reporting.
  • keep up to date with the information ISLK provides on ManageBac, Google sites, Google classrooms, via mail, parent meetings and 3 way conferences/progress discussions.
  • contribute to a positive school culture and atmosphere.
