Stadsparken, Vita Scenen stage 19:30–20:30

Suzanne Flink, Nils Olsson and Johan Palmqvist & Öresund Entertainment Brass. Sweden’s interwar years began in a spirit of progress and optimism and moved towards depression and turmoil. In 1930s and 1940s Sweden, film went from silent to sound, music was cheerful and jaunty, and revues were toured and performed all over the country. The artists’ task was to make the audience forget their troubles for a while. Meet three of the most famous performers, Ernst Rolf, Ulla Billquist and Edvard Persson, and get to know their sorrows and joys beyond the glittering facades.

The first part, Bomullsängeln, is about the vulnerability of girls, female friendship, and the thirst for education. About how the times in which we live can determine our lives more than the choices we are able to make. The second part, Londonflickan, is a story in which everyday life and world politics are threads in the same fabric.

Kristin Amparo and her crew move between boogaloo, Motown soul, bossa, mambo and jazz with equal parts ease and playfulness. Are we in the midst of a musically simmering Spanish Harlem sometime around 1966? Ten years later in a recording studio on the south side of Chicago? Or in a retro-flavoured London in the early 90s? Combo De La Musica manages to cross time and space with its furious dancefloor music, and transports the audience to all of the above places simultaneously!
