Tell us about your organization ...

We’re the operator for the official place brand of the Greater Copenhagen Region. We use this brand for helping to promote the region internationally towards talents and companies within IT, Tech, Engineering, Life Sciences and Game Dev. The region itself stretches over the borders of Denmark and Sweden. With 4.4 million inhabitants and 17 universities, it’s the largest metropolitan area in the Nordics and a global hub for growth, sustainable solutions, and innovation. The Greater Copenhagen Region offers world-class research facilities, a creative business environment and outstanding infrastructure via rail, road, air, and sea.

Why have you chosen to join this collaboration, and how do you see it benefiting your organization?

We’re excited to help shape a more connected and future-ready Greater Copenhagen Region, where people and businesses thrive across borders.

The Cross-border Talent Bridge project aligns closely with our mission to promote the Greater Copenhagen Region as probably the best place to live and work. The partnership offers the opportunity to have an even bigger impact on shared challenges and develop effective solutions for talent attraction within industries that are vital to the region’s long-term growth.

It allows us to be part of a larger movement driving sustainable, inclusive growth in the region, where internationals aren’t just attracted but empowered to stay and thrive.

Supporting Sustainable Workforce Growth and Regional Competitiveness

What opportunities do you see in collaborating across borders within the Greater Copenhagen Region?

We believe being part of the Cross-border Talent Bridge will strengthen the Greater Copenhagen Region’s position as a global talent destination. It will contribute to bridging the gap between regional labour market needs and international highly skilled professionals. By attracting and engaging key talent groups—such as tech talents or life science professionals —from across the globe, we support long-term workforce sustainability, industrial competitiveness, and economic growth in this region.

Over time, we believe that the Cross-border Talent Bridge project will contribute to inclusive, resilient communities and companies, and fair and easier access to career opportunities.

What long-term impact do you hope this project will have on your organization and the region?

In the long term, the Cross-border Talent Bridge will help us to position Greater Copenhagen Region as a leading example of how regions can address skills shortages through international collaboration and inclusive growth. We hope to further strengthen key industries, ensuring that companies here can innovate.

Ultimately, we want to contribute to a more resilient and future-ready Greater Copenhagen Region, where people are empowered, and businesses are equipped to meet future challenges.

How do you view the region’s competitiveness in life sciences and tech today, and how can we strengthen it together?

The Greater Copenhagen Region is already one of Europe’s most competitive and collaborative hotspots for life sciences and tech. It’s home to leading universities, state-of-the-art research environments, and a strong tradition of public-private partnerships. The region offers a unique platform for innovation and sustainable growth, no matter if you’re already a global player or an up-and-coming startup. All companies in the region benefit from the open business culture, access to talent, and high quality of life.

To strengthen this position further, we at Copenhagen Capacity want to keep building bridges, especially across borders and between international talents and local companies.

Showcasing Life Quality to Attract Global Talent

What role can your organization play in driving change in talent attraction and skills development within the region?

As the operators of the official place brand for the Greater Copenhagen Region, our role is to attract and connect people globally and across the Danish-Swedish border. We work to position the region as an attractive destination for international professionals by highlighting its strong industries, inclusive work culture, and high quality of life.

In fact, we even dedicated a full campaign to life quality in the region. It was our kick-off for the Cross-border Talent Bridge collaboration, and the campaign was called “Life Quality Insurance.” It was a massive success among internationals, and it is currently shortlisted for several awards, e.g., at the Creative Circle Awards in the categories Digital Campaigns, Promo & Activation, and Earned Media.

Targeted campaigns like this are a tremendously well-functioning tool for supporting and driving change in talent attraction and skills development. They help make relocation and job-seeking easier for international talents and amplify the region’s strengths to a global audience.

Are there any initiatives or best practices from your organization that could inspire others in the network?

We’re running many great initiatives under the Greater Copenhagen Region brand. For example, our networking and matchmaking events. We’re particularly proud of them, as they have proven successful for both companies and international talents multiple times. These events are designed to match the right IT, Tech, Life Science, Engineering, or Game Dev candidate with the right company in Eastern Denmark and Southern Sweden. We believe the reason for the success of these events is that all candidates undergo a thorough screening process to ensure their competencies match the company's needs.

Pre-screening candidates is also a great example of how our work is generally inspired by the results of our user research. Currently, we’re particularly focused on developing the Greater Copenhagen Region Carer Portal, for which we have gathered insights from international talents and regional companies. We’re still in the analysis process, but we've already discovered really interesting outcomes and can’t wait to share them with everyone.
